Vision

In 2024, we took out four public boat trips, totaling 142 people with 44 kids of varying ages and 98 adults. We were able to try out our programming both with the ability to drag the Otter trawl net, and without. We hope to offer our Marine Science Overview program to local schools. Although we are focused on middle school students, we will also form relationships with primary and secondary schools. We will incorporate universities, training programs, industries, non profits, governmental agencies and individuals who are pertinent to our curriculum. We have created an online Living Library, called Coastal Realities, where we will continue to share interviews with individuals who are committed to sharing their stories and advice to students. We will be creating curriculum for all 9 programs that includes:

  • Trip Description
  • Suggested auxiliary programs
  • Suggested combined activities
  • Map
  • Pathways
  • Fields of Study
  • Career Paths
  • Affiliated Texas Educational Knowledge Standards
  • Pre- and Post-visit Activities
  • Key Words and Definitions
  • Works Cited

By 2026 I would like to begin the creation of a text book called Gulf Coast Aquatic Sciences (which will edited by our advisory committees) that serves as a companion book to Dr. Rudolph Rosen’s Texas Aquatic Science, originally published in 2014. In the meantime, we are forming partnerships with governmental agencies, individuals, and existing nonprofits to ensure accuracy of our content, publish the book, and get it in the hands of Marine Science teachers throughout Texas and beyond.
